Newsletter: Term 2, Week 6
We round off this week with our final Puawai project session for this term. Looking at the range of offers this term, we've had some great mixing of ages and teachers and always enjoy the energy that comes with learning new skills or engaging in wider curriculum opportunities. A couple of "school day in the life" videos to share from our movie-making club are a good example.

I had the pleasure of joining our enviro-action group trip to Barnett Park last Friday. Led by Natasha (school mum), we met up with local legends Cam (school dad), Ash, and Luke who showed us the trapping set-up in Barnett Park, aiming to reduce introduced predators in an increasingly developed native bush area. Our small and enthusiastic group saw the process of baiting and checking that these awesome volunteers do for the community reserve and heard about the positive impact being made in the area. This was such a great example of local community making a difference – and the power of a sense of purpose for our kids connecting school to community. There are some photos of the work our enviro-action group has done to date below.

Maybe you’re keen to share some of your time and get involved in these awesome community initiatives:

A final reminder to book learning conferences on Hero ready for next week. These are important checkpoints to assess learning goals made at the beginning of the year and discuss the overall educational progress made to date. Please remember we are closing at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, June 10th, and Wednesday, June 11th, to enable ample time for these conferences.
Well done to our cross-country runners who competed at the South West school zone competition held yesterday in authentic early winter conditions. Some great individual results and a good team effort – thanks to Susie Murphy and Jemma Alexander for their organisation and supervision.
It’s shaping up to be another big week next week, with our Book Week character dress-up day on Tuesday and a Friday, 13th school disco to end the week. Some more term milestones to enjoy.

Have a great weekend when it arrives,

It's Disco Time!!
The school disco is coming up on Friday 13th June.
The disco will be split into two groups:
Years 0 - 4 will run from 5.15pm until 6.30pm
Years 5 - 8 will run from 6.45pm until 8.00pm
The cost is $2 per child and all children will be signed in as they arrive.
We are again running an Eco Glow Disco which keeps the plastic waste down to a minimum. So instead of wearing single use plastic glow sticks we’re asking the kids to wear white and neon to get their glow on!
BYO water bottles - please can children bring named water bottles as we know dancing makes them thirsty!
We will have glow in the dark face painting and nail polish ($1 each) as well as lollies and popcorn ($1 each) for snacks so please make sure your child brings some spare change with them! Back by popular demand we will also have the photo booth ($2) so children can have their photos taken with their friends.
This is always a fun night and the kids love it. For the night to run smoothly we need parent helpers.
Please can you contact us at redcliffsdisco@gmail.com to let us know if you can help. We’re looking for assistance with:
- set up / decoration between 12 midday and 3pm on Friday afternoon in the hall
- junior disco helpers between 5pm and 6.30pm
- senior disco helpers between 6.30 and 8pm (including clean up).
