It’s great to be back at school after a well-earned summer break! It has been wonderful to see how much our young people have grown over our time away from kura. I trust everyone is feeling refreshed and ready to embrace the challenges of a new school year.

I’ve really enjoyed catching up with many of you on the deck and in classrooms as we settle into the rhythm of the year. A special thank you to the families who attended our whānau connection meetings. These meetings are such a valuable opportunity to build strong relationships and bring together the three key people in a child’s learning journey—the teacher, the parent/caregiver, and the student. As we all know, it takes a village…

"Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari kē he toa takitini." My success should not be bestowed onto me alone; it was not an individual success but the success of a collective.
We were delighted to welcome new students, their families, and our new teachers, Georgia Kimpton and Jemma Alexander, at our Mihi Whakatau on Monday morning. This is such a meaningful way to start the year. It’s always exciting to see new families join our school community, and we're incredibly proud of how warmly our young people have welcomed their new classmates. This is a true reflection of our school’s value of Manaakitanga—hospitality, care, and kindness.

Triathlon & Run-Scoot-Run
Today, we had another fantastic opportunity to celebrate our unique location with the triathlon and Run-Scoot-Run. A huge thank you to all the whānau who took time out so early in the year to support our young athletes. Special thanks to Susie Murphy and Team Rangi and Leonia Ocheduszko and her Team Whenua for their hard work in coordinating these fantastic events.
This year, our teachers will be delving deeper into two new curriculums—English and Maths - whilst continuing our work on a localised curriculum tailored to our learners. It’s going to be a big year of professional learning for our team! Many of our teachers started back earlier than usual this year, engaging in a two-day structured literacy workshop to refine our teaching practices. A big thank you to our staff for their dedication to this mahi.
